Noelani’s POV:

Into the air she flew, laughing loudly as she tasted the sky until she realized that she was beginning to fall. Her hand reached into her bag, pulling out two of her ivory throwing stars and sending them into the nearest tree; she could see that the tree she threw them into was one she would have crashed into if she did not do this. The stars exploded and created a cloud of dust and ash, perfect for Noelani’s semblance. She pulled the ashes towards her, creating a ramp for her to slide down into the forest safely; the ashes disappeared behind her and as soon as her feet touched the ground the stars in the trunk were brought back with the dust remaining on their blades.

She looked up with the sound of a few gunshots, and then a blur of orange and red flew above her. She assumed it was her friend Griff, but she needed to focus and get moving to the temple; she fixed her slightly messy hair as she glanced at her surroundings, the trees were tall and towering over her head, bushes lines the perimeters of the trunks and leaves littered the ground.

Where the hell are we supposed to go? Lani asked her in her thoughts, her voice sounded distinctively irritated as it echoed against Noelani’s brain.

I’m not really sure, Noelani responded, beginning to walk towards the north where the Headmaster announced the temple was. But going north is the best chance we have.

Ugh, I just hope we don’t have to work with anyone. Lani groaned, We count as two people and we don’t need anyone helping us.

Oh come on Lani! Noelani rolled her eyes slightly as she started to lose focus while walking. Being on a team isn't a bad thing! What about those people we hung out with last night and yesterday?

You mean the three nuisances that followed you around yesterday? A dark laugh, that always sounded forced, bounced off the walls of her skull. They aren't worth our time; they’ll get in the way. They’re liabilities we don’t need to worry about, you only need me.

Having friends isn't a bad thing Lani, I actually like having people to talk to that aren't only in my mind. Noelani knew that arguing with her other half wasn’t a good idea but she did it anyway, Lani sometimes was just the only person she could talk to.

Lani was about to chime in again when a sound caught both of their attention. Noelani pulled out three throwing stars and held them tightly in between her fingers, glancing around and watching the bushes around her shift with something hidden within their dense leaves. She stalked towards them, her steps near silent until a roar startled her into jumping backwards into a defensive stance. Three large Beowolves stormed out of the bushes and growled ferociously at her, their red eyes meeting hers in a challenging glare for only moments before Noelani felt a change in her body.

No Lani, I want to start this one. She sternly thought to her, feeling her other half roll her eyes, I’ll let you take over if I need you.

Fine, go ahead and get both of us killed. Lani responded with a spiteful voice, Just know that I’ll take over if you get overwhelmed, and they’ll be piles of ashes when I'm done.

She nodded sternly to herself, flipping her weapons in between her fingers as the Beowolves growled angrily at her, she smirked a bit as she stood ready. One of them charged at her, clearly a young one since it fought without even thinking, she reeled her arm back before chucking two of her stars at its head. They spun through the air, cutting through the wind with a satisfyingly piercing tone, until they found their mark at the skull of the beast; as soon as they sunk into the fur of the wolf, they detonated in an inferno of fire dust that incinerated the Grimm instantly. She smirked as the corpse started turning to smoke and dissipated into the ground while the older Grimm roared at her again, she felt Lani nod in her head with approval and gesture for her to continue.

Noelani chuckled as she charged forward and threw two more of them at the second largest wolf, the blades of these stars were full of lighting and water dust made to destroy the target in an instant. The first star hit in the chest releasing a blast of water as strong as a fire hose, the second hit in the same spot to cause bolts of lightning to crawl through the body of the soulless being. It screeched in agony as smoke poured off its fur and collapsed into a pile of ashes and soot, the white bones and glowing eyes vanishing into the ground to never be seen again. She smiled in victory as she grabbed two more stars from her bag until she was hit hard in the stomach by the large Beowolf—it was an Alpha.

It was at least twice her size in height, more of the white boned armor decorated its back and with spikes sticking out of its spine along with the skull outside its head being thicker than the smaller ones. Its teeth were sharper, longer, its jaw was bigger and it was louder with every roar. The attack it launched on her made her angry, she blocked its next attack with the remaining ashes from its fallen companions before throwing them at it to give her space. Lani was smirking in her mind and waiting for her turn in the fight, Noelani was trying to keep her control so she could prove to her second half that she could do it on her own. She flipped out of the way of her opponent’s next slash, throwing two more stars before they bounced off its armor and exploded on the ground in ice and a strange kind of fireless explosion—the name of that dust she had forgotten. She was struck again and landed on her back, growling as her rage pushed herself back and allowed Lani to strut into place.

Lani chuckled in her throat as she flipped up to her feet. The red color vanished and a menacing gold took over her usually kind eyes, showing anger and cruelty as well as a dark edge never seen before. She rolled her shoulders back to crack them before taking out ten throwing stars; snapping her arm out, they clicked with a hinge that they all had in their blade which connected them all into a rather large ball of spikes. She used her smoke manipulation to create a chain and pole for her transformed weapon of a mace, she held it tightly in one hand and had a couple spare throwing stars in her other. She stalked towards the Alpha with a vicious glare with a snarl on her lips as lethal as the one on the monstrosity before her. It roared at her, being drawn to the intense negativity that was radiating off her from Lani overseeing her actions.

Soulless and brainless,” Lani chuckled in a voice much darker than Noelani’s usual tone of cheerful giddiness, “This should be an easy fight.”

The Beowolf didn’t seem to appreciate her insults, it roared angrily at her as it stormed forward on all four paws and swiped at her. She flipped out of the way on one hand, as soon as she stood up again she slammed the spiked sphere of her mace into its shoulder, activating two of the stars to explode with fire and stone to slice off its arm instantly. It cried out in pain with almost a whimper of agony, before whirling around and trying to bite her head off with its large teeth aiming at her neck and skull. She smirked as she dashed out of the way and spun her mace into its hind leg, severing it with an explosion of wind and razor sharp ice spikes. It howled out with unbearable rage, making Lani laugh with satisfaction before she grabbed the creature’s jaw so its red eyes looked at her own.

Have fun in hell, bitch.” She laughed, her voice was mixed with a sadistic amount of pleasure from seeing it in a panic and in agony.

She spun the mace a few times in the air above her head, the ball gaining so much speed that it looked like a total blur to anyone who looked at it. She spun it faster and faster until it was moving with its own momentum and velocity; then she slammed it into the top of its skull as hard as she could, causing a loud crack to echo all around the woods that surrounded them and for the Beowolf to be silenced once and for all. Its cry was cut off as its head inverted and collapsed in on itself, making the black smoke almost explode out of it as the body vanished into thin air.

Told you you’d need my help.” Lani boasted as she permitted Noelani to take control again, she closed her eyes and took in a deep breath before feeling herself return to normal. Noelani opened her strawberry colored eyes again and sighed.

She started to disassemble her mace, she didn’t like that feature but she kept it since Lani liked it and needed her own way to fight apart from how Noelani did. It was difficult to keep herself calm enough in battle to keep Lani from taking the spotlight away, or getting a higher kill count than Noelani had already. They bickered sometimes like children, most of the time Lani stayed away until a fight was about to break out then she was taking charge as fast as she could, it was her thing. There wasn’t much she could do to change it though, and when she thought about making Lani stop she got anxiety about how she would be without that half of her. She was always doing what she could to avoid her anxiety attacks, they were overwhelming and suffocating. She always felt like avoiding them was her goal in life; she sighed as she blocked out the dark thoughts and put her throwing stars back into her little bag.

Noelani began to walk through the woods again, curious as to what she would stumble upon next. Then she heard the sounds of fighting from not too far away from her, the sound of something being fired and slashes of a blade; a student! She felt that her partner could be right around the corner of the next tree, she smiled enthusiastically while she tip-toed over to the tree separating the fight from her line of sight. The sight of hulking Ursai filled her vision as she parted a few bushes, she was stunned by seeing at least two of those monsters already on the ground and turning into smoke; she climbed up into the nearest tree to see who was fighting so valiantly against the Grimm. She perched herself on a branch high enough that the fighter wouldn’t see her, and she wouldn’t get in the way of the fight.

She wished that she had some popcorn to enjoy during the fight, since it seemed like the situation called for that sort of thing. She caught slight glimpses of the students but she couldn’t identify them at all, all she saw was a few flashes of the color blue.

Here's how Noelani's weapon works and also how Lani likes to intervene in Noelani's life,
through violence and bloodshed!

She's going to have major character development later on though

Feedback is wanted and appreciated!!!

I enjoyed the fight scene, and how the two personalities interacted with each other. As always excellent writing, I'm excited to see what happens next.
